Our mission: We empower students by providing equitable services and connect with them through individual sessions, classroom instruction and informative workshops to address and overcome academic and personal challenges.

Our counselors and academic advisors can assist students in planning to earn career certificates and associate degrees and/or for transfer to four-year universities.

For All New Students


IMPORTANT: Steps toward success at De Anza College.

Step 1 Apply! Do this as early as possible, even if you think you may attend another school. Keep all your options open, and keep your priority registration if you choose De Anza.

Step 2 Declare a major on your application – not "Undecided."

Step 3 Select a goal of transfer, degree or certificate.

Step 4 Take placement tests.

Step 5 Complete a brief orientation to officially choose your classes.This is your first quarter's educational plan only!

Take COUN 50 (1 unit) before or during your first quarter to learn how to accomplish your goal to graduate and/or transfer to a competitive university in a timely manner.

Manage your academic progress. Do a DegreeWorks audit.

Graduate! File for your degree and/or participate in June ceremony.

Transfer. Successful transfer requires careful planning and course selection.
