News & Reminders for Current Students

Seeing a counselor

We now have international student academic counselors in the ISP office! Read these guidelines on when to drop in or schedule an appointment. Keep in mind:

Health Insurance cards

Health Insurance cards are mailed to students quarterly within the first 2 weeks of a new quarter. If you do not receive yours, please come to the ISP office with your student ID card to request a copy.

Important note about the health insurance fees: The health insurance fee is NOT automatically refunded if a student drops all classes from De Anza.  It is the students' responsibility to contact the ISP office before the end of your last quarter at De Anza College. Failing to notify the ISP office will mean that you are responsible for health insurance fees charges.

Traveling abroad?

Going outside the U.S.?  Traveling home for break?

You need to submit your I-20 to the ISP office.  Remember there are hundreds of requests for winter & summer break so submit yours early to make sure it's ready in time for your departure date.
1.Complete the F-1 Document Request Form.

2.Submit it with your I-20 to the ISP front desk at least 2 weeks before your trip.
3. Bring a PHOTO ID to pick up your I-20 2-3 days before your departure date.

 leaving De Anza College?

If you decide to leave De Anza College, you must notify the International Student Programs and complete the EXIT Form. ISP staff must transfer or terminate your SEVIS record properly.

Also, please check MyPortal to make sure you don't have outstanding fees on your account. If you do, be sure to pay your financial responsibility. Accounts left with holds, tuition and/or health insurance outstanding fees will become a problem if you decide to return in the future or request transcripts and/or degrees, and it will also affect your personal credit (financial) score in the U.S. If you have any questions, be sure to check in with the ISP office staff BEFORE you leave the country.
