    RAPP Meeting Minutes Zoom Mtg.

    Meeting summary

    This meeting was a Zoom only meeting. It began with an approval of the minutes and segued into a discussion led by Veronica Avila to gain input regarding proposed AI guardrails. Dean Nocito stated we need to “ensure the protection of personal privacy and institutional integrity and asked us to “exercise caution and responsibility when entering information into any Artificial Intelligence (AI) system or tool.” She wanted to remind us to understand how AI data is being sourced from publicly available data.

    Simon Kang’a stated the AI Playlab tool is designed for use in any academic setting and has privacy safeguards, but we also may add additional measures if needed.

    Kang’a provided the Playlab website policies https://www.playlab.ai/ and gave RAPP members a brief refresher and overview.

    The next portion of the RAPP meeting was closed for voting members to review positions submitted this fall quarter. Deadline to submit personnel requests was Oct. 17th. Mallory Newell explained the review process and then voting members were placed in Zoom breakout groups of four to discuss a minimum of one request using the AI tool as an aid. Discussions will continue at next week Zoom only meeting on Tuesday Oct. 28th. Voting members have been asked to review at least one program prior to the start of the meeting on the 28th.
