From the President
An Acknowledgement and an Appreciation
Aug. 20, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
As we head into this late summer weekend, I want to acknowledge the anxiety that many of you are experiencing with the wildfires burning in our region – especially those of you who live in a fire zone. Our thoughts and very best wishes are with you.
Others of you may know someone who lives in an evacuation area. You may be affected by the smoke blanketing the Bay Area or the record high temperatures, or may have experienced a power outage in recent days. All of this is on top of the stress of the pandemic, including the challenges of serving our students from home, perhaps educating your own children at home, missing social contact and human connection, and so much more. Without question, the death of George Floyd has profoundly affected us all. On a positive note, the activism against racism continues.
I know that in these circumstances, we will all be generous, kind and understanding of each other, and the unique situations we all face. Please let your manager or me know if there is anything we can do to help you during this particularly challenging time.
With appreciation,
Lloyd
