Introduction to Linguistics


Course Description

This course provides a broad introduction to the scientific study of language. Students will explore fundamental concepts in linguistics, including phonetics (the sounds of speech), phonology (the patterns and rules of sounds in languages), morphology (word structure), syntax (sentence structure), semantics (meaning), and pragmatics (language in context). The course will also touch on topics such as language variation, language acquisition, and the relationship between language and society.
