Personal Computer Security Basics
Course Description
This is a beginner's computer security course for small office or home users. Students will learn to stop hackers, worms, viruses, spyware, and web bugs. They will discover how to recognize identity theft, and other cyber threats, such as Artificial Intelligence. Students will identify vulnerabilities found in web browsers, e-mail, and operating systems, along with how to protect against online purchase dangers. They will manage cookies, restrict ports, evaluate wireless networks, and examine encryption. The course includes numerous hands-on exercises to demonstrate security concepts.

Noncredit courses cannot be used to earn an associate degrees nor any college transcriptable certificates and are not transferable. This online class does not have scheduled meetings. Students can log in anytime to do the required weekly course work.
