Chicanx and Latinx History


Course Description

This course examines the history of the Chicanx and Latinx people, surveying the period from 1848 to the present time in the United States. Emphasis is placed on the politics of race, its origin in the colonial process, and its impact on the historical development of a Chicanx and Latinx ethnic identity in the United States. Students will also analyze the roles and contributions that Chicanx and Latinx people have played in the development of the United States and California, with comparisons to other groups.
