The Process of Social Research
Course Description
An examination of the application of the scientific method to understanding social phenomena. Explores important processes in social research including the selection and definition of problems of investigation, ethics in research, the relationship between theory and data, and quantitative and qualitative data-gathering and data analysis techniques.

SOC -014.-1EZ: This class is offered as part of the LEAD program. LEAD (Latinx Empowerment at De Anza) is a program committed to social justice and civic engagement. This class involves 12 hours of active, hands-on, work making a difference in our communities. The course has been modified so that this does not involve more time than a regular class. This is an online class that requires Weekly Online Zoom meetings but, no in-person class meetings. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.
