Retention
Village Centers and Food Pantry

To promote early engagement with De Anza College while addressing Goal 10 of meeting students' basic needs, we propose an action plan centered on providing substantial snacks, food items, and other personal essentials in all the Village Centers. This initiative aims to support students by ensuring access to essential resources, fostering a sense of belonging, and alleviating food insecurity.

By integrating these resources into the Village Centers, students are exposed to the supportive environment of De Anza College early on, encouraging them to engage with the college community and explore educational pathways.

  • Promote Awareness: Raise awareness among middle school and high school students, as well as their families, about the availability of resources in the Village Centers through targeted communication strategies. By highlighting De Anza's commitment to meeting students' basic needs, we demonstrate to prospective students and their families that the college is a caring and supportive environment where their well-being is prioritized.
  • Collect Feedback and Evaluation: Gather feedback from students and their families about their experiences with the resources provided in the Village Centers and use this input to continuously improve and refine the offerings. By actively soliciting feedback, we ensure that the support meets the evolving needs of students and remains effective in addressing basic needs, thus reinforcing early engagement with De Anza College.
