How to Take Classes at Other Schools
- The instrctions listed on this page are for F-1 students at De Anza only -
To take a class at Foothill College, a concurrent enrollment authorization form is not required. Simply apply to Foothill through CCCApply and ensure you are following requirements number 1-3 below.
To take a class outside of Foothill-De Anza, an authorization form is required only if you want your enrollment at that school to be counted towards your 12-unit minimum enrollment requirement for the Fall/Winter/Spring Quarter or if approval is required for admission. Download and complete the form below and follow instructions on the form for submitting it to the ISP office.
Concurrent Enrollment Authorization Form
- Majority of Units at Home Campus: To maintain your F-1 status, you must have the majority of your units (and a minimum
of 8-9 on-campus or hybrid units) at your home campus, De Anza College. Failure to
do so may result in a violation of your F-1 immigration status. If you have any questions
about this requirement, please speak with your international student adviser.
- De Anza + 1 Rule: In addition to De Anza College, students on F-1 visas can only enroll concurrently
at one other school/college/university and that includes Foothill College.
- Consult With a Counselor: We highly recommend checking with a counselor to ensure that the courses you plan
to take at another school align with your academic goals. Be aware that course sequences and content at Foothill and De Anza are not always
identical. It's important to verify with a counselor that the courses you choose will
meet your educational objectives.
- Provide proof of course completion: If you are using the units at another school (outside of Foothill-De Anza) to complete your required 12 units, you must provide proof of course completion to your International Student Adviser at the end of the term. Failure to do so could result in a violation of your F-1 immigration status.
