Dia de Los Muertos
- This event on the Main Quad helps teach De Anza students about a major celebration/holiday in Latino culture.
Farm Workers Support and Tutoring
- LEAD has an ongoing commitment to working with farm workers and their families in Watsonville. One of our alums has created a program that teaches leadership skills to children at the Buena Vista Migrant Camp.
Gentrification Tour
- Students who have been learning about gentrification in class toured the Mission district in San Francisco, to witness the effects of gentrification and meet community activists fighting for change.
Global Issues Conference
- This annual LEAD conference changes themes every year, but is used to educate the De Anza community about issues that people face all over the world.
Kirsch Center Garden
- The development of this on-campus garden was a project revived by LEAD, and is now thriving and regularly maintained through our Economics classes.
Mass Incarceration Teach Ins
- In conjunction with the California History Center, LEAD students developed workshops on police assault and taught techniques for dealing with the police in a way that does not heighten the possibility of violence.
Take Back The Night
- This event, sponsored by DASB, promotes awareness of sexual violence on college campuses.
Ten-Minute Mentor
- This is an event developed by students to introduce them to a variety of professionals in multiple fields
Unnatural Disasters
- LEAD students contribute informational games and participate in the teach-in at this conference hosted by ICCE (now VIDA).
