Quick Notes for the Week of Oct. 6
Transfer Day Is Next Thursday, Oct. 16
College Fair and Workshops
Transfer Day is an annual college fair, hosted by the Transfer Center, which connects students with university representatives. This year’s event will
take place next Thursday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Main Quad. All students are invited! Please RSVP in advance.
Participating institutions include:
- California State University campuses
- University of California (UC) campuses
- Private and independent California colleges and universities
- Out-of-state colleges and universities
Students can also attend special workshops at Transfer Day:
- UC admissions panel discussion – in Conference Room A, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Register via this site. Select the 60-minute workshop at 1:30 p.m. and choose counselor option "University of California."
- University of Southern California admissions workshop – on Zoom, from 3-4 p.m. Register via this site.
Please register in advance for both events.
New Parking Permit System
For Fall Quarter (September–December)
Parking for students and employees will remain free for the 2025-26 academic year. However, the Foothill-De Anza police will begin enforcing restrictions on parking in staff spaces this fall.
Students and Visitors
- Parking is free.
- Permits are not required for fall.
- Do not park in staff-designated spaces.
- Enforcement for staff-designated parking spaces will begin Nov. 1: Warnings will be issued for the first two weeks, then citations for vehicles parked in staff spaces without an employee permit showing.
Starting with the winter 2026 quarter, a new online system will be in place for students and employees to obtain free parking permits. Watch for more information on this new system, later in the fall quarter.

October is Filipinx American History Month! You can watch videos from the CAN/DID Inclusion Series that focus on the Filipinx experience. The videos feature Erick Aragon, a counselor for the Office of Outreach and Men of Color Community.

Blood Drive This Wednesday, Oct. 8
Student Health Services and the Stanford Blood Center are holding a blood drive this
Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B in the Campus Center.
Each donor who signs up will receive a $20 e-card and a chance to win tickets to the
Warriors basketball game on Dec. 25. Schedule a time on the donor portal. For more

Fall Club Day Is This Thursday, Oct. 9
The Inter Club Council (ICC) is hosting fall Club Day this Thursday, Oct. 9, from
11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Main Quad. Over 80 student clubs and organizations will be
tabling at the event. There will be live entertainment and goodies. This event is

Women of Color in Entrepreneurship Panel This Thursday, Oct. 9
This event is open to everyone. The Career Technical Education Division is hosting a women of color in entrepreneurship panel next Thursday, Oct. 9, from 11 am.-noon, in MLC 255.

Know Your Ballot Event Next Tuesday, Oct. 14
The Vasconcellos Institute for Democracy in Action is hosting a "Know Your Ballot" event next Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in Forum 3. You can learn about issues on the Nov. 6
ballot at the event. You can also learn how to register to vote. More information
about voting can be found at registertovote.ca.gov.
An Evening With Top Colleges and Universities
De Anza students who are interested in transferring can meet with representatives from leading colleges and universities at a special event on the Evergreen Valley College campus on Monday, Oct. 13. Schools scheduled to participate include:
- Amherst College
- Cornell University
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
- Princeton University
- Williams College
- Wesleyan University
- Yale University
The event is hosted by the San José-Evergreen Community College District and will be held on the Evergreen Valley campus at 3095 Yerba Buena Road, San José 95135.
You can attend a joint presentation from the college representatives and ask questions in a Q&A session. Following this, there will be a college fair where you can ask questions about academic programs, financial aid, transferring and more at individual tables.

Women of Color in Corporate Positions This Tuesday, Oct. 14
The Career Technical Education Division is also hosting a panel entitled "Women of Color in Corporate Positions" on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m.-noon, in the Career Center (SEM 1). This event is open to everyone. Panelists include:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Women’s Volleyball Team Raising Funds
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Women’s Volleyball team is running a Dig Pink campaign this month to support The Side-Out Foundation, a non-profit that raises awareness and funds for the treatment of metastatic breast
cancer. While it is the most advanced form of the disease, it receives the least amount
of funding. You can donate online to help the team reach their goal of raising $2500.
The team will also be holding a Dig Pink match on Friday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. They will be playing against Gavilan College in the Main Gym. Admission is free, but a $5 donation would be welcome.
Canned Food and Clothing Drive Now Through Nov. 24
Drop Off Canned Food at Auto Tech Building
The Auto Tech Club and The Hub are holding a canned food and clothing drive now through Nov. 24. You can drop off canned foods at Building E1, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Drop Off Clothing at The Hub
During The Hub's hours of operation, you can donate new and gently used:
- Jackets and coats
- Hoodies and sweaters
- Beanies and gloves
- Umbrellas and similar items
