Check Out the 2025 Grad Slideshow!

Dear Student,

With just days to go before De Anza's 58th annual commencement ceremony, you can now view a digital slideshow featuring photos and messages submitted by nearly 200 students who are among those graduating this year.

The slideshow is posted on the graduation webpage and will be displayed at the Santa Clara Convention Center before the ceremony begins at 3 p.m. this Sunday, June 29.

You'll find stories, photos and details about this year's graduation celebration at deanza.edu/graduation. We've also listed some tips on where to park and how to get ready for the ceremony at the end of this email.

Employee Awards for Outstanding Service

Sal Breiter, Margarita Hawthorn, Eric Mendoza, Nathaly Aguilar

President Omar Torres has selected four De Anza employees to be honored at the graduation ceremony with special President's Awards for their exceptional service to the college and its students.

  • Sal Breiter, faculty coordinator for Professional Development, is known for his dynamic teaching style and has launched a number of equity and professional training initiatives at De Anza.
  • Margarita Hawthorn, program coordinator for Community Education, plays a vital role in her division and works hard to support students and colleagues through Caring Campus and the Classified Senate.
  • Eric Mendoza, dean of Physical Education and Athletics, has been an energizing force in supporting student success and equity, while working collaboratively across all segments of the college.
  • Nathaly Aguilar, executive assistant in the President's Office, was selected for a special award to recognize her contributions and support of senior leadership.

Graduation Tips and Updates

De Anza's 58th annual commencement ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, in the Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara. Doors will open at 1 p.m.

If you're planning to graduate this year, please remember these deadlines:

  • Today – Thursday, June 26 – is the last day to buy your cap and gown at the campus Bookstore, which will be closed on Friday and over the weekend. The Bookstore closes at 2 p.m. today.
  • Grads and their guests should plan to arrive early on Sunday, to allow time to park and get ready. The doors will open at 1 p.m.
  • Free parking is available in the garage behind the convention center. Park on the second or third floor and follow the signs. (Overflow parking is available in the Tasman Garage at 2525 Tasman Drive.)
  • After the ceremony, you'll be able to take photos with fun props – including the college mascot, Roary the Mountain Lion.
